subject line: it was a privilege February 11, 2017 by Hannah Brencher Freehold, New Jersey When you were here, you made me indescribably happy. The kind of happy that smiles absentmindedly, that makes your chest tighten up because you just can’t catch your breath. And then, just like that you were gone. And with you went that happiness. And it took a long time, but now it’s back. And I love myself more than ever. It was a privilege to know you, it was a privilege to love you, it was a privilege to matter to you-even for the briefest instant. And most of all it was a privilege to lose you. Losing you meant choosing me. And I am finally okay with that. I think this is what peace is.
