subject line: on departure. April 16, 2016 by Hannah Brencher alabama Let this be a practice round on all the men who read these, because I’m still working up the courage to say it to the man that needs to hear it:Your exit? It matters. The way you leave me matters. Please don’t settle for a simple “bye, see you later.” Please don’t leave angry or with unsaid words. Hug me tighter before you let go. Kiss me a few moments longer, holding my face in your hands. When I get out of bed to get ready for work, reach for me. Pull me back under the covers. Let me know that you find value in every single moment. Let me know you want me to stay. We could have a hundred hours of meaningful conversation and tear-inducing laughter, but if those last few moments don’t seem deeply savored, that’s all I’ll remember.
