subject line: green & blue. July 12, 2015 by Hannah Brencher atlanta, georgia I was maybe five years old when I first saw you. We were just kids day dreaming while building sand castles we said would one day be ours. Those summer months were ours, and we never wanted them to end. we have always had such poor timing.Remember that night under the stars when we put our favorite song on that sang a chorus about green and blue? You grabbed my hand and we danced right there in the moonlight. I didn’t say half the words I wanted to, but that was when I knew. we have always had such poor timing. One autumn weekend, I drove 300 miles to be with you. Then she walked through the door, and you grabbed her hand as I said hello. It was like slow motion standing there in that kitchen with the two of you. Maybe we got lost in translation, but I was paralyzed. I could hear my own heart beat as I cried on your staircase at three in the morning when she asked you of one simple thing. She was beautiful, but did she dance under the moon that night with you? we have always had such poor timing.Time started to run, and it ran out fast. I tried to walk slow through it all. Distance grew, communication was scarce, birthdays came and went with no phone calls or texts, and the day dream of there being a you and me was fading. She got her wish, her one simple request. Now it’s long gone. we have always had such poor timing. You and me, we’ll always be just green and blue.
