subject line: some of us are gardeners. July 30, 2015 by Hannah Brencher toronto, canada The other day at work I was on break and went outside to catch some sun. I watched one of the women who usually works in the office upstairs dig around in the new garden and plant lilies and Japanese willow bushes. She talked to me about how she and her husband buy houses and turn them over and renovating before buying a new one and starting the whole process over again. She said, “We like tearing things apart and putting them back together again”. And I hope that that’s what being partners with someone feels like. A constant pulling apart- tearing back layers. Getting messy. Being real. But I hope we always come back to wanting things to be whole and newly perfect again. And I hope we always want to make that house together. I hope I’m never a house that’s not worth renovating.
